Overview

This site outlines the web standards for websites at York University using the York 2014 theme with WordPress.

On May 1, 2014, York University introduced a new, responsive WordPress theme template to the York Community for those with an online presence at York.

Highlights of this theme include:

  • a responsive design that automatically resizes to your visitors screen size making your site instantly mobile- and tablet-friendly;
  • use of the latest streamlined Global Navigation with a new, quick links collection of York links;
  • a clean and inviting design with user-friendly fonts, bursts of York red and plenty of white space, all of which reflects the YorkU brand;  and
  • enhanced web accessibility to help meet AODA web accessibility requirements.
Accessibility Requirements
Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), all new and significantly refreshed public websites and web content need to be accessible. As such, public websites that launch with or switch to the new York 2014 theme must conform to AODA web accessibility requirements. More information about the AODA accessibility requirements, training sessions, and resources can be found on the AODA Web Accessibility at York website.
